The Young Innovators Hawaii Project, proudly supported by Project Reach Hawaii, is an inspiring entrepreneurship program designed specifically for the students of Kohala Middle School. Created by dedicated middle school teacher Ramzen “Kekai” Coakley, this hands-on initiative empowers keiki to dream big by guiding them through the real-world process of developing, building, and pitching their own business ideas during the final quarter of the school year. With mentorship from local business leaders and professionals, students gain valuable skills in innovation, critical thinking, teamwork, and self-empowerment while exploring career pathways rooted in their community, culture, and kuleana. The program culminates in an exciting “Live Show” pitch event where top teams are recognized, with cash prizes and resources awarded to help bring their visions to life. By fostering creativity and confidence, Young Innovators Hawaii equips Kohala’s youth with the tools to shape a brighter future for themselves and their island home.
